God provides us with resources, spiritual gifts and talents to support each other. Stanwich World Missions wants to offer opportunities for care, love and community to be experienced in the church.
There are myriad ways to help our neighbors and below are just a few (list updated regularly):
Christ Has No Body
Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
Saint Teresa of Avila (1515–1582)
OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE
As a church, we seek Missional engagement to know Christ and make him known and to serve all people according to Christ’s example. We can do this by working alongside our local ministries as well as other projects or organizations that you or your Life Group may be interested in supporting.

Food Rescue US
Dedicated to Eliminating Hunger and Food Waste
Sign up as a Volunteer on the FOOD RESCUE app to connect food donors including bakeries, grocers, farms etc. to directly transfer nutritious excess food to social service agencies serving individuals experiencing food insecurity. Most rescues take less than one hour to complete. No commitment is required: volunteers can choose any rescue that fits their schedule and can participate as often as desired (weekly, monthly, etc.).
Visit their website and click on "Sign up" at the top of the screen to access the scheduling app. A welcome email and brief training videos will be sent thereafter. Questions? Email laney@foodrescue.us for more information.
INSPIRICA
Our Stamford neighbor and Community Partner INSPIRICA feeds approximately 15 women at their Emergency Women's shelter each day. Would you like to deliver a meal or provide dinner for them? Here is a link to their Volunteer Hub for those who feel led to serve these women through their meal program. Anyone can sign up for as many meals as they want and as far ahead in the calendar as you want.
If you have questions or have trouble signing up, please contact Kehlens Cherine at KCherine@InspiricaCT.org
WEEKLY OPPORTUNITIES
Using yarn and needles and the gift of knitting, we offer tangible expressions of God’s love to another. As we knit these shawls, we pray for the recipient. This ministry has made such a difference in connection among our church body.
When the shawls are finished, they are consecrated and given to people for various reasons: comfort during illness or grief, the celebration of a milestones, such as a birth, marriage, or graduation or just a reminder of God's care and love.
If you knit or crochet or quilts, please join us. For more information, please contact Laura LaSpalluto.
Providing love and care between stiches of yarn.
One of our parishioners, Adam, was born blind. Adam lives in Old Greenwich and because he receives a ride from a church goer on Sunday mornings, he is able to continue to worship with us.
Please reach out to Genie Wells to sign up to accompany Adam.
Rides are needed each Sunday.
With ongoing food insecurity, Stanwich Church provides lunch for our neighbors through the New Covenant Center in Stamford several times a year. A warm ziti, crisp salad and a dessert is served to roughly 100 guests. There is a sign up to prepare food in advance and deliver to Stanwich the morning of the luncheon and/or to help with actual serving or mingling with guests at the New Covenant Center.
For more information, email Mauri Clarke, Director of Stanwich World Missions.
Come serve food at the
next luncheon.
