Pastors & Staff

Chuck Davis, Senior Pastor

Chuck responded to a call to pastor Stanwich Congregational Church and began full-time as Senior Pastor in the summer of 2007. His passions including teaching and preaching the Word of God, connecting people with their life purpose, encouraging individuals to health and growth in the journey of life, and leading the church to reach out to the marginalized.

Chuck has been active in vocational full-time ministry for over 25 years, in roles as pastor, missionary and seminary professor.  He grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, in a Christian family in which both grandfathers were pastors. Chuck sensed God’s call on his life throughout his youth, and his family remembers that even as a young child Chuck would frequently announce that he was called to preach.  He graduated from Nyack College with a B.A. degree in Bible and subsequently earned Masters of Divinity from Alliance Theological Seminary (ATS).

After graduating from seminary, Chuck served as Senior Pastor of an Alliance Church in Clark, New Jersey, for five years.  During his time as pastor in Clark, he took a group to West Africa to build a Bible School.  From this experience he began to sense a calling to work internationally.  He returned to ATS as a part-time student while pastoring to earn a Masters in Intercultural Communication to prepare for this new call.  In 1990, Chuck and Ingrid moved their family to Mali, Africa, to work as missionaries under the auspices of the Christian & Missionary Alliance.  Chuck and his wife Ingrid spent 3 years learning the French and Bambara languages, and then worked in a team setting to plant churches and train leaders. During the last four years of his 10-year missionary service, Chuck served as a Field Director, supervising 40 missionaries and serving as a liaison with the Malian National Church.

In 2000, Chuck began a seven year assignment as professor of Intercultural Studies at ATS.  During that time he studied part-time at Fordham University to earn a Ph.D. in Sociology of Religion at Fordham University.  He defended his dissertation in January of 2011 and was awarded his PhD in January 2012.  In 2013, Chuck published his first book, Authority Encounter.

Chuck has been married to Ingrid for 29 years.  He considers their marriage a treasure, not only because they are such good friends but also because Ingrid is actively involved in serving God alongside him.  Ingrid is a gifted teacher, life coach, mentor, and public speaker.

Chuck and Ingrid have three adult children: Linnea, Christian, and Jordan.

Joan Osgood, Senior Associate Pastor

Joan has been a member of Stanwich since 1973.  She completed her divinity studies at Yale in 1988 and stepped into the role of Associate Pastor at the same time as former Senior Pastor, Rev. Neely Towe.  Joan and Neely led and served the Stanwich community together for over 19 years.

Joan has been a tremendous asset to Stanwich in extending pastoral care across a breadth of many different ministries.  She is often the “first responder” to families welcoming babies, those struck with sudden illness or those looking for counseling and prayer.  Joan leads the Marriage and Parenting Courses for couples and a weekly small group for new mothers.

Joan lives in Stamford and has four adult children and four grandchildren.  Her late husband, Don, is the author of several inspirational books, including A Light in the Backcountry, a retrospective history of Stanwich Church published in 2005.

In addition to her Masters of Divinity from Yale, Joan holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from the State University of New York College at Purchase.

Nathan Hart, Associate Pastor

Nathan was called to Stanwich Church in October 2011.  In his role as Associate Pastor, Nathan ministers to the congregation, helping people identify their callings and ways to deepen their faith through service, fellowship and family life.

Nathan felt called to Christian ministry even as a child, growing up in Holland, Michigan.  After graduating with a degree in Theology and Communications from Hope College, he earned his Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.  At Princeton, he was awarded the Jagow Award for Preaching.  During his seminary years, he worked for the New York Yankees chaplain and conducted “board room Bible studies” for Wall Street men.  It was through this ministry that Nathan began to feel a specific calling to evangelize and disciple in the New York metropolitan area.  His first call after seminary was at Brookville Reformed Church, on the north shore of Long Island.

Nathan has served in many other arenas, including domestic and international missions, youth ministry, interfaith education, hospital chaplaincy, and parish Christian education.  His most recent service before coming to Stanwich was as the New York City Director of FOCUS (Fellowship of Christians in Universities and Schools), which ministers to students and families in independent schools.

Nathan and his wife Nancy have two children, a son named Riley and a daughter named Evangeline.

She created and taught workshops to clergy equipping them to meet the end of life needs of members of their congregations. Her greatest joy during her years there was developing Camp BraveHeart, a weekend camp to be used by families that had experienced the death of a family member .  As a member of the adjunct faculty for Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan, Jacky taught in the field of hospice education to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Most recently, Jacky has been the national Director of Women in Ministry for the Evangelical Presbyterian Church for more than seven years. In that role she worked to train, equip and support women ministry leaders throughout the EPC through the leadership initiative, “REAL Training”. Following where God was already moving, she worked to educate and engage women in the fight against human trafficking.  Jacky established the “Set Free” project that has involved women in local churches to direct their resources and attention to prevention and restoration of women who have been trafficked through projects in Albania, Cambodia and Asheville, NC.

Jacky and Mike have served churches in Charlotte, NC; Peterborough, NH; Hamilton, MA; and Northville, MI and most recently, Memphis, TN.  Jacky and Mike are the never bored parents of two young adult children, McCauley and Cort.
